And what recommendations you guys have as far as best place or most strategic place to settle? Brand new to game and learning as I go but playing solo as of now and dont want to make a mistake and take a piece of land only to move out later on down road.

P.S> If I do decide o move do I just but another Writ of homesteading? And what happens to my old piece of land?

Try to find a nice quiet area, with lots of trees, a bit of water, some lime, clay and other natural resources. If you decide to leave your old claim to a new area, you have the option to declaim the area you have claimed or leave it there if you decide to come back. However if you are gone long enough from that claim, it will become unpaid and can be destroyed by anyone with the waste skill.

Also no, you do not need to claim land to build a fence on it. There are no restrictions on where you can build something (unless it is on a clay pit, stone/lime quarry or sand) The claim only protects everything you build. Without it someone could come along and destroy your fence.

that said, fences WILL also decay by themselves over time if they are not on claimed land, whether or not someone else comes along to destroy it.
