I was just dabbling in ranged combat and few questions have risen up.
Several days ago i was shooting a cougar for constant 0,5 damage per stone. After reading the wiki i have retried on a deer just now, same 0,5 damage despite my yb had increased since the cougar incident.
Wiki: "Slingshot damage seems to be around 0.5*sqrt(YB/10)".
Is the wiki formula only valid for pvp?I purchased a pistol and a musket to continue the testing. I tried the pistol and dealt only a pitiful amount of damage around 5-6. I shot a deer with a flintlock for 8-10 damage. Overall it hasnt been very impressive. However today there was a bear at my front door, the sun was shining brightly and i felt bold, so I grabbed the musket aimed and fired, (and ran back behind my walls right after

). But to my big surprise the musket actually did decent damage this time, about 30+. Welcome and puzzling.
- What determines the damage of pistol and musket? Do they scale with YB?, or maybe they do that only in pvp? Does the range matter for the damage calculation?
- What "reliable" range do they even have?
- Also about the snare effect. Maybe i expected too much, or was blind in the heat of the moment, but that snare was extremely short against animals. Is it longer in pvp?
