New player - begginings

Postby LordHultonus » Mon Jun 22, 2015 10:01 pm

Hey!
So basically, today I have started my adventure with Salem.
Bought a noobie kit and...
And yeah... what should I do?
I played some Haven & Hearth before (game from the same developers, looks like Salem is really simmilar to it)...
But... Can anyone give me tips for developing my character?
Which skills should I improve first and which later?
I feel kinda lost. :P

All depends on what you wish to do.

Play how you want, do what you want. If you played HnH before you really should know how it works.

Well on new chars personally. I start with learning the learning skills. Anything that is like literacy or learning worded you should focus on first. This will give you a fair amount of inspiration at the start. Once you get moving you will find your way. But to keep inspiration up and going get the learning skills as quickly as possible.

Well, for example in Haven & Hearth when you are incereasing your skills you should do that very, very carefully as you gain... lets simplify this to "skill points". Investing in every new skill makes ability to unlock another one much, much harder.
I wanna ask if in Salem it works like... I can do and master few skills and abilities at the same time?

Here is a noobie guide on how to get started with Salem: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=181
The guide has some very useful tips but it might be a little outdated so you could also check out GamerZakh's salem tutorials as those are very informative https://www.youtube.com/user/GamerZakh/featured

But as Holylight said this game is a Sandbox game and you can do whatever fits your liking :)

Have Fun!

Just level the skills up. In the way of decisions it really is up to you considering that you can level everything. I would level 5-6 different proficiency at a time anymore than that and you will waste some of your inspiration doing it. So pick a focus like mining and level mines and mountains, sparks and embers, hammer and nail, and law and lore. When you get the skill you want move onto the next. As for careful its best not to use the same inspiration twice during a leveling session as that wastes inspiration but it is not wrong for you to do so either if brute force is fine for you.
