I don't know for sure, but from what ive heard, All darkness creatures have a small chance of permakilling you when they knock you out.

From what i understand they have logic built into the AI's of the darkness creatures.
The more you piss them off / attempt to bug kill them (without success) the more likely they will kill you if you KO in combat to them.
Im not stating this as fact, from what i hear.

This is true. If the monster can Murder you, it will be much more likely to do so the more you try to use 'tricks' to kill it.
