How to create a lock or unlock locksmithing

So I been asking in game for around two days now. No one bothers replying. I guess no one speaks English. Anyways I have both lore of the lumberwoods and settling unlocked but I still see no locksmithing in the list to unlock. Did they change the way to unlock it? I tried other things such as whittling, simple fences, mechanics and a few other things but still no luck.

JC, could you give an up-to-date skills tree to community? The release is coming and there are going to be a lot of new players, that will ask questions, but it looks like the skill tree in our wiki is out of date.

Thank you.

I don't think that is a bad idea. Would be nice to know the first 6-7 levels of new skills. Anything beyond that ruins the mystery. First few would be helpful to some new and some old even.

Working on getting blacksmith now. Seems I need an anvil to actually make a lock. Such a long progress. 7 iron to make a lock. This probably turns newer players away from the game which isn't good. It use to be fine before. Could of been a bit harder but needing 5 for the anvil, 1 for the lock and one for the key and yet another for the key ring 8 in all is a bit to much for a new player. The only option is to buy gold (which will actually make the game less money due to seeming forced to pay in hopes of protecting there stuff.) A newer player isn't going to be able to set up a mine and smelter etc. That's more end game so there only option is to buy iron for 55g or more a pop at the market.

People sell iron ore for 30s which is dirt cheap, if you cannot commit 30minutes with forage mode on and look for feathers, and arrowheads to craft charms to sell to supply yourself with silver for said iron, this game probably isn't for you/them anyways.

Also the "buy gold" comment shows how out of tune you are with Salem seeing as the currency for this game is silver.
