hookah and snake oil?

What does snake oil do? Also how does hookah work? I entered the dun and took a puff from the 3 things there but it didn't seem to do anything.

Snake oil makes you grow a *****. Hookah alows you to get an inspiration bonus on the first use in 24 hours i believe depending on how long you use it, but if you use it to long it will have you in a stunned state for a minute or two.
