Just curious. ..i built a new base with a mine and there is another mine node about 10 tiles away. Do they attach underground or are they separate instances?
Could be a nice tunnel/security issue.

Not in this game. You have nothing to worry about unless you if mine down to the dream land people will be able to get into your mine.
