Im thinking about moving my base to the darkness but im not certain if i want to, so some questions that arise with that idea.

Whats the pros/cons of living in darkness ? Is it the only option to be safer or people live there because theres advantage in it ?
Before landmarks it has its benefits but now ? i can be in darkness in no time for hunting purposes and can see any pros in living there.

If you have to ask how will living in the darkness benefit you then you should not live in the darkness. The point of living in the darkness as a non-witch is that it makes the game harder.
