Thankfully it doesn't have the ability to murder, to my knowledge, it does however have a huge agro range so be weary.

Indeed. Light creatures don't murder and I don't have any immediate intentions of changing that aside from of course if you are silly enough to go hunting during a Blood Moon.

Would be nice to spawn some darkness mob during a blood moon that only comes out at that time to give the more daring people something to look forward to during that time.

or simply increasing special item odds for animals killed under the blood moon? But I suppose that is decided at butcher time, and people could just get their animals out of the fridge for butchering during a blood moon.

This is why I like your ideas. They come with a built-in logic as to why they don't work :).
