Just one question on decay

I was wondering if one could still stockpile dry boards by building plank fences starting post without them disappearing :)

They will decay if offclaim.
If you do not "build" the items into the sign and just place them in, they will disappear over time on and off the claim.

Even onclaim, if you don't build them right away they will disappear, specifically to prevent you from storing them in this way.

Alternatively you may want to invest into alternative accounts and spam their yellow bile as well as their weight perks. They work quite well when storing bulk building material at the cost of a few spaces. Though sheds will usually be the superior form of storage unless you are willing to invest in the cupboards. Or do my all time favorite and flesh out the first level of your mine with chests. Makes theft easier as well as simply mass storing things you do not mind loosing with minimal costs to space.
Keep calm and stay peachy.
