i wonder how do i setup a gate so it can be opened to north?

Is it possible to give a little more details here, I'm a bit confused as to what you are asking.

He probably means that he wants gates to open towards the outside, however if it's not fixed those doors only open in two directions instead of all four.

Stand south of the corner posts when choosing to build a gate. If that doesn't work, try standing north of the corner posts when choosing to build a gate.

For myself, I recently built two gates (one on the north side of a claim, one on the south). They both open the same way, I think because I stood south of both when I built them. Anyway, one of them opens "in" to the claim, the other opens "out".

i tried building the gate from all available standing corners, tried both building west to east and vice versa
as a result gate opens in only one direction

as a recall playing 2 years ago i have had 3-row stonehedge and 3 gates standing next to each other, 2 gates were opening inside my claim and 1 outside

is there any secret?

I always thought it was just what ever direction you face when building is the direction it opens.

There might be a secret to be discovered
It also bothers me sometimes
