Are there different areas that have different purities for the forageables that you collect? or is it to be added later in the game? I just can't remember what a read about it.

The purity nodes system is pretty much dead and gone. The only system reminiscent of it is the mine system. But that also requires careful planning/grinding of metal to notice the mine nodes. Its been replaced by the gradual build up of different alchemical compositions, like with the selective farming and mining systems. The devs will be implementing more systems like that in the future.
