hi,

i recently got raided i think it's because a scented item - is it possible to find out if an item is scented? i know i can put it on an alt for a few days until the scents disappear. also i'd like to know if the scent desappear if i use the item to craft or build something. ty

If you use item by consuming/studying, crafting something with it or using as building material scent will disappear.

There is no way to tell that I know of if an item is scented or not. You should consider not criming if you can't protect your base. If they just stole your stuff you should consider yourself lucky that all they took was your stuff.

the scent won't disappear, but the item won't be trackable anymore (as it is gone). The scent is still useful for tracking the original perpetrator.

is it tracking or summoning?

Yes

The basic rule of thumb is to only buy things that you are going to use/transform right way. Once the item is no longer in the same state as it was when it was stolen then the item itself cannot be tracked. The theif of said item can still be tracked.
