I may be being stupid here and the answer is under my nose but I just built a well and can't quite figure out how to use it, I have tried right clicking it and right clicking with a bucket to no avail. If someone could educate me here it would be much appreciated. Also I did try to search the forum and found nothing about a well.

Right click it with the bucket and wait for it to go down, and then come back up.
