Another 3 questions...

Postby Taipion » Mon Feb 02, 2015 9:40 pm

Hello everyone, would anyone be so kind to answer these questions?

1.)
Authority objects:
Are authoritiy objects, like a boundry stone, protected in any way like the town bell, so they can't be destroyed as long as the town is payed, or are they destroyable independently of this?

2.)
Leanto destruction:
If a character is offline while his leanto is destroyed, what exactly happens?

3.)
Mushroom re-poisoning:
Could it be that (inherently poisonus) mushrooms re-gain their poison shortly after being cooked?
And if yes, is this a bug or intended? And again if yes, does food made with them regain the poison even if crafted while non-posionus?

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to answer! :-)

Feel free to call me a noob and harshly point me to threads that I did not find but contain answers to all of this in thorough detail.

1 yes, authority objesta re indistructable as long as the bell is paid for.

2 then when he logs on he has no leanto. thats all....

3 yes, this eesm to be a bug. we are not yet exactly sure how this happens though. but if you log off or leave it boiled for a while they seem to regain poison.

any and all of these answers could have been aquired by a search on the forum.

Nope, If you are offline and your leanto is destroyed its like busting open a piñata, your clothes and inventory are dumped all over the ground.

I understand why he posted this, I've spent hours searching the forum for answers that I couldn't find, not these specific questions though

Are you using Google or the built in forum search? The built in forum search is a bit archaic in use, and limits what you can search for because these PGP BBS packages are usually designed to run on free sites and lower end servers, so you don't get the processing and indexing horsepower Google or other dedicated searches can provide. Doesn't help when we all don't use the language in exactly the same way and so looking for something becomes a exercise in digging out a thesaurus.

It'd be nice to have a good guide to using Google to search a forum. I still hit and miss on what I find quickly and what I have to spend 20 or 30 minutes (or more) on. Maybe Google should develop search APIs the BBS developers can implement. :geek:

You should also try checking out the wiki--www.salem-wiki.com. While the wiki doesn't have all of the information from the forums, there's a pretty dedicated team to keeping it updated. (Be sure to check talk pages for any extraneous information that hasn't.)

99% of the questions asked can have the answers found on the forum somewhere at this point. The problem is quickly finding that information. Sometimes it really is easier to just ask instead of banging your head against the keyboard trying to find it.

It's not really all that troublesome to link to the wiki or answer a quick question a couple of times over to help someone out.

Lo there, fellas.

Sorry if this is old info, but here it goes: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=1344605 - about adding google search on a phpbb 3 forum board.

About searching from google itself - I can recommend using "site:forum.salemthegame.com" to show results only from the board. If this doesn't work or you have something else in mind, let me know, I can make a more profound guide (only if needed, this function should be quite enough!).

They drop were the leanto was, I suppose, or where the character was?

And I know your char will stay ingame if you don't have a leanto, does you char come back online when the leanto is destroyed while you are offline?

The best is never have to find out for yourself. Build a wall. Claim the whole thing. Put a brazier or two.
A claimed stone hedge - even without braziers - is enough to repel most of the newbies raiders who don't have the biles to bust it or don't really have time to do it. What I would suggest is to leave an empty chest at the outskirts of your claim. Not within your wall but still on your claim. If the raider is retarded he will check it out and will leave a scent. If he wants to come back to bust it down, this scent will be a warning. But do keep in mind that this raider needs to be retarded to fall to this simple trap. Thankfully most of them are barely smarter than an oyster. Hope that helps.
