What exactly is the year for Salem?

I've searched the forum prior to making this topic but I never really could get an answer out of Jorb on this yet wonder if it can be answered now: What exactly is the year for Salem? I've always put it within the 1600s, but what exact portion I'm lost on. With the introduction of tokens I've drifted from the idea of 1600 - 1660; mainly due to the oldest being that of Christian IV token. Yet no earlier than that of late 1500s; such as 1590 and up.

Has a set year been put in place in correlation to the current decade? So far I've assumed it is the 1650s during the reign of Pope Innocent X & Pope Alexander VII. If possible it would be nice to know if it is the early or late portion of an exact decade. Or in a worse case situation know if it is pre-1650s or post-1650s. Thanks for giving me the time to read this to those who may know.

That did not answer the question that I had asked; it only confirmed what I already knew which I had already went over. What I am asking for is has the new development team decided on an exact decade for Providence. Thank you for the suggestion though.

We don't fancy Salem taking place in any one accurate historical year, but rather a 'period' of time where various elements from the 1600-1750 era are seen.

That would make sense of the tokens then as well as other technologies. My question has been answered; if possible I'd like this topic locked as it now serves no other purpose. Thank you to all who answered my curiosity.
