How did this happen?

Postby Shadeen » Fri Jan 09, 2015 8:08 am

I knew my base was discovered, but I thought I would ride it out and see how it goes.

And surely enough, someone raided it soon after! Thank god I didn't have any super valuable items... As I was mulling over the idea of moving ever since I was discovered, I had come to terms with it. However, upon logging in, my character's purse (and coins) were dropped next to my claim post. How did that happen? I didn't leave her logged in, and hadn't commited any crimes so that I wouldn't be able to log out (it says you are unable to logout, right?).

Is it safe to pick it back up, or could it be the raider's so that he can keep track of where I move to?

Anyways, if (for some reason) my character was still logged in when the raider came, THANK YOU for not permanently killing her <3

Cheers!

Claimstones and leanto´s are now lootable when the associated characters are offline.

You can't be killed off line if you haven't committed any crimes. Also Raiders will keep finding you every time you move. You will never gain security through hiding, so just find a nice place to live and start building defenses.

Oh, so when I am offline my coinpurse can be looted from my claimstone or leanto?

Thank you DarkNacht, that's exactly what I plan on doing :)

your coin purse as well as all of the things in your inventory/all your clothes.
The perpetrator will require larceny, similar to looting a knocked out character.
However, stealing from a leanto has an exorbitant black bile drain (40 bbile per item without any criminality artifacts)
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Nah, I can't blame them for raiding me, as I didn't even have any walls up, since I thought the two braziers I had built would work when the raider stepped on my claim, and I knew I was discovered and it was only a matter of time. Land was too large and unmanageable, it was my firs trial base.

I read that in order for the braziers to work, you need to have double walls built. Is that true (for future reference).

Not quite sure what you think but braziers don't care if there is a wall near them or not. Of course if there is nothing in their way a raider will just put it out in a couple of seconds with a bucket of water.

You seem to have a good attitude, good luck making a better base.

It should be safe to pick it back up.

You have a great attitude, and I wish you the best of luck. The key to a protecting a base from 75% of raiders is to make it not seem worth their time. Build at least a stone wall and braziers behind them, as well as torch posts and make sure it's all claimed, if you can, at least until you build enough braziers for full coverage keep chests indoors.
