I'm told that town bells are destroyable withing the first week. How does one actually do this? Simply turning on criminal acts and trying to destroy it doesn't work. Even tho I have waste I don't have the ability to build a waste claim. Any ideas?

Thank you.

Get Compacts & Constitutions, drop a Trial, and trash the bell.

I have Compacts and Constitutions. I can build a town bell but cannot build a trial by fire. I don't have the option. Only challange authority and trial by combat. I have all skills under 100 except eye for an eye, and before the new december patch still didn't have the option for trial by fire.

trial by fire requires waste.
Fledgling towns STILL require waste claims, but they don't have the waiting period attached to them. They're vulnerable as soon as the waste claim is built.

Schucks that this happened.
Regardless of the fact that JC claims hermits shouldn't be needing town claims, and made them more expensive, you still want a town claim as a hermit. It protects you from stuff like this AND gives you a days' warning on raids.

I believe it also requires you to be part of a town yourself. As waste claim is a authority object and drains the authority of your own bell?

Hmmm... yes... It does seem reasonable that a hermit shouldn't be required to have a town to fight back against an encroaching town. Then again, surely there are other towns or towns of rangers who for the right price would come and 'solve' this problem by offering their waste claim.

aside from that, this is not an encroaching town but a town bell dropped with the express reason of eminent'ing an existing pilgrim base. Maybe disable eminent domain in the same time-space needed you currently use for fledgling towns and waste claim timer vulnerability?

is it terribly hard to make it so you don't need a waste claim to waste a fledgling town?
Ultimately it really shouldn't matter in the pclaim purchasing case. The only reason an attack by eminent domain should fail is if the mats for the flags are not on hand and they take too long. really no reason to give the person you are domaining time to react with a waste claim. I feel that the person that created the town in this case did not fully understand the mechanics of towns, or that their goal was to just scare the pclaim owner

Well that does not make much sense in this case, he already invested 8500s and therefore the other 2-3k shoudn't be the issue to invoke.
