Town ownership

Four of us played for some time, we managed to build a nice town. A month ago or so all the others left. I'm not the mayor of the town, so now i'm left with a claim to pay that i don't have permissions to manage or expand. What can I do with that?
I planned to take their stuff when their claim runs out, now it would leave a scent...

Try to ask mayor for permissions (since this one is obvious, I'm going to assume you don't have contacts).
If there is no way of becoming a mayor or having all permissions, just destroy the bell and stones when it runs out of silver, it won't leave scents. Take into account that town claim costs 8500 now, so you might reconsider and learn to leave on given space.

I figured out this much, but this 8500 is out of the scope.
Anyway thanks for the answer.

Well is you are now playing alone, there is not as much need for a town bell anyway.

I'm not so sure of that.
I was just curious if there's any way to claim it for myself.

i think the waste claim 24-time warning for a raid (and impunity from eminent domain) in combination with the lower upkeep is a big enough reason to consider a town claim as a hermit.
I would definitely be getting one if I were to strike out as a hermit again.
8.5k is not little, but it's also perfectly possible for a small-time trader or someone who does a lot of beaver hunting to accumulate over time. Sure, you won't be dropping one in your first day as a hermit, but once you're established I'd say it's well within reach.
