How to get fine leather?

Postby pestilence123 » Mon Sep 15, 2014 2:00 pm

Yesterday I learned Fine Leathercraft skill. I took the 1.6 liter Otto rose, mixed it with 160l oil and poured result in the tubs. Today I received 16 pieces of ordinary leather. I spent a whole month to collect rose otto and got nothing. What am I doing wrong? How many months should I collect rose otto to get at least one piece of fine leather?

Looks like you need a consentration of 50% of Otto rose to get 100% chance of fine leather. No idea if its right though since I have never tried it myself.

Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

i've been doing concentrations of 10% and I got 1/5 fine leather now. Currently saving up for a large batch of rose otto :) I should definitely have bought distillers before I had the skill ...
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

So, I tried to do 16 buckets of 5% solution, 5 buckets of 10% and 3 buckets of 25%. And do not get a single piece of fine leather. This is an absolute bad luck or something I'm doing wrong? Now I will make a 50% solution every time to get at least something. The only thing I do not understand is why some people sell otto rose by 300 per 0.1l and fine leather for 850. Apparently they are able to produce it at a lower concentration of the solution. But how?

Yes, buying rose otto to make fine leather is not going to be a good idea at that price. Maybe people who are making inspiration potions are buying it.

I use 48-50% solution and have gotten fine leather each time (3 or 4 times now).

Sounds like you are having some bad luck.

I think that the chance is pretty low unless you use 1l of otto to 10l of oil. Failed a lot with 20% concentration (maybe only 2 fine leather from 8 tries), didn't get any from 30% concentration (twice tried)... and even 40% failed...
