uhhhhhhh how the heck do I make boards

according to the wiki you just place a log on a sawbuck and then should be able to start making boards

ok i got a sawbuck
i chopped a tree down so theres a log on the ground
now what? when i r-click it my only option is to chop it
when i l-click nothing happens

how the heck do i get this onto the sawbuck? :/

You have to lift the log, (there is "lift" action in the adventure menu) then right click the sawbuck. this way you will place the log on the sawbuck. Then you can right click it and the only option will be to cut boards

There's a homestead pointer you can turn on in the custom clients. Might be in the default client too. It's one of the little buttons on the bottom left.

yeahhhhhhhhh see... i was building a house, and i had to take my homestead down. because it was in the way
then i went to get enough grass for hay for it. last 2 components to build it

5min later i realize, oh.... no pointer because i took it down

so now im totally lost. been walking for 20min, not finding anything familiar. trying not to cry because this is the furthest ive ever gotten in the game and now i lost it
i did buy some land but i guess theres no pointer for that

You can download the MapMerger tool from the forums and put that in your game.salemthegame.com folder, where your maps are, it'll merge it all and then you can check where you are and see if you recognize familiar patterns on the map. preferably dug up dirt if you dug at all. Alternatively just download the cartographer / map viewer and check your last 5-10 sessions, depending when your last session near your base was.
