Confused about flour

Postby belibutn » Tue Sep 18, 2012 10:14 pm

Can someone explain how to make flour to me, please? I don't understand what is in the wiki at all.

Questions about it are things like:
What cereal is used?
Does it matter what kind of cereal it is?
what is this 'mill flour' i saw on the wiki?

Things like that. Basically, I wanna bake my pies without having to grow crops for it right now.

"Cereals" are the seeds you plant. The tier of the field determines the type. Flour is ground stalks of any type. For pie flour, type doesn't matter. For some things, like rye dough, you have to have a specific type of flour.

Just grow regular old cereals on any old field and you can make your pies :)
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

Once you learn the baking skill, you can interact with the gears inside of a windmill and use the 'mill flour' recipe to create flour from ears of cereal. The type of cereal determines the type of flour you will make.

So basically:
Mill Flour = any ear + windmill
Flour = Mill Flour + windmill

That's pretty much it, right?

I don't have agriculture and don't have a good spot to level yet so I need to buy

Tilling fields requires no leveling. You can do it on almost any slope.

er... no. Mill Flour is the action of turning an ear of cereal into flour. Mill Flour isn't an item, it's an action. You can only use the Mill Flour action when interacting with the cogs in a windmill (in the same way you can only cook when interacting with a fire/stove).

"Mill Flour" is the action you do at the mill. "Flour" is the product of that action.

Can anyone go into more a bit more details on what cereals make flour. I have used corn seeds and milled them but i end up getting cornmeal flour which doesn't seem to count as flour in any of the recipes that require just normal flour. So my questions is corn one the very cereals that doesn't make normal flour.

Check the cereals for sale from NPC in Boston. You can make flour from all of them as far as I know. Or go look for some abandoned farms.
