Why no tooltip on craftable items?

What's the point of not showing how many slots a piece of dress will have when I craft it or what will be the stats an artifice will provide?
It's just a waste of materials and is a not noob friendly mechanic in my opinion.
As a hermit and solo player I can't afford to waste precious materials just to discover that wasn't the type of artifice I needed...or the cloth I wanted.
What's your opinion about this?

My first thought would be: "You should probably switch to a custom client."

You should be able to find the stats on the wiki fairly reliably. That's where the custom client gets the tooltips.

Outside game record keeping can be a bit tedious though, I suppose tooltips would be easier.

But someone wasted his materials to discover that informations and put it on the wiki.
That makes no sense imo

The wiki is something you can use right now, a possible future patch isn't. That is, if the devs decide to change this. Keep in mind the wiki is a bit inaccurate at the moment, with all the recent changes to the game.
Salem isn't really a game that'll hold your hand and tell you exactly how & what to do, it's quite possible these tooltips were intentionally omitted.

Oh, and most items will come in handy eventually anyway (if not for own use then probably for trade) and the ones that don't are generally the cheaper, crappy ones that weren't much efford to begin with.

The game is meant to be about exploring things and finding things out. Not having every piece of information supplied to you at every moment.
