Decay... a mystery :) but not only that

Postby GioPoly » Sat Jul 12, 2014 8:14 pm

I've lost my woo woo :( ( I could have misplaced somewhere, I don't remember ) But I'd like to ask some things.

- where can I find info about the decay system ? no such page in the wiki i think.

- does "repair" command work on everything ? and if so, does it extend the item's lifetime ?

- when something decays, does it disappear ? ( like my woo woo ? )

- does everything decay ? and at what rate ?

I know these are a lot of questions and I am sorry, but I'd like to point out that this game needs an in-game encyclopedia due to the complexity and variety of options and stuff.
I would also like to suggest to the devs that they could give the playerbase ( witch seems very dedicated ) the chance to participate and help if there is too much work to be done. I would have no problem to participate myself and help.

Anyway, there are a lot a new player needs to learn to be able to prosper ( or at least survive ) , especially if he is not in a group of experienced players to show the way.

thank you in advance for any answer

Time to make one!

Most everything. It only restores damaged hit points on items.

Yes it disappears. But only structures, not items on the ground. They disappear normally.

Structures, random.[/quote]

I believe there are two wikis in the community. I would suggest you work with the owners/representatives of those to try to get them in as tip top shape as possible. I know we would be appreciative if you did.

I've been known to accidentally throw my woo-woo wand into a fire or fireplace. I think it works on anything that requires a log.. rather annoying tear generator..

NM it looks like that might been fixed.. I thought it did that at one time tho..

how about items in your inventory, or storage ? and how long is "normally" ?

well I can't seem to reproduce it now but I though for sure at one time it could get put in a fire or maybe get consumed by a craft inadvertently. Cause im sure I had it happen once or twice.. lol

You find out details about how decay works by observing and documenting it.
GioPoly wrote:how about items in your inventory, or storage ? and how long is "normally" ?

items in inventor and storage will only disappear if the container they are in does.

Structures will be tinted red when they get at least 75% decayed, the best way to prevent this is to claim your stuff.
Also your woo-woo did not decay, if you don't have a claim then it was likely stolen.

Decay has been mildly understood at best so far. It seems to work in ticks, anything susceptible to a tick has a %chance to not get hit, which makes it difficult to know if a tick just happened or not. And I don't think there's been any data at all as to if decay ticks hit for the same damage every time or not.

I've seen tree stumps turn to old hollow ones within a few hours, and I've seen fresh ones not turn to stumps in months. Back when we first moved into mistmoore it was obvious the bell had been down at least 2 weeks, but we still had a few drying racks that were at 100%, even though others were gone long before we got there.
