corn can not be getting from the game itself, only via trading (it was introduced with some derelict packages at the start of the server and was never retconned, same as red roses).

Oh thanks, but since there was a wipe, how it can be still around?

some people still found the thanksgiving packages from two years ago in the postmaster on server restart. the items themselves were retconned, but as far as I gathered the planted fields and potted roses stayed in existence. This meant that we had more corn and red roses from which to grow the current server corn and rose population

Actually the seasonal stand in Boston was selling roses. So that was a asource of supply as well.
