How many tiles should a claim be from the walls to prevent splash damage?

at least five empty tiles of claimed land
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

You sound confused. There's nothing relevant in the distance from a claim to a wall. Don't you mean "from wall to wall"?

I think some people are confused whether or not splash damage can jump from off-claim to on-claim. I know I am not certain, though I could easily test it. I had assumed that the initial reports of splash damage occurring from off-claim to on-claim were fixed soon after splash damage was introduced. Is that correct?

I've been doing some building/destroying... and while I do see splash damage to the next wall within 5 'squares'... I'm not seeing any damage beyond such.

Basically whatever wall is next to it gets the splash... but nothing beyond, regardless of distance.

So if you have Stone... stick... stone... the stone fence on either side gets damage... and nothing else... (stick is immune).

Stick is not immune to stone splash. In your case the segment you're damaging is a linear one and has an adjacent segment connected to it, which makes the splash go that way.
Exactly 6.022 x 10^23 worth of Lach molecules.

To prevent someone from building a cornerpost off your claim and splashing your walls when they destroy it, claim an extra five tiles beyond your splashable wall. Makeshift fences aren't splashable, so if you have a layer of Makeshift Fence, you can count that as one of the five tiles.

No, not confused at all. I had someone build a post adjacent to my claim. They destroyed the post. It caused splash damage on my wall.

Thanks Mereni for your help. :D
