Aggro snake, sprint a couple of tiles away from snake, initiate stomp and let it crawl into the AoE, Uppercut, butcher, profit.
Also, make your own rattler serums. Just slay enough snakes for an etterfang and grow some garlic. If even that fails, you could probably find players selling rattler serum for the low cost of 150 silver or so.

All this growing stuff is a little beyond me, I have some neighbours who seem to love it, once they are a little fatter, I'll see to trimming them back a little Hopefully they will have some of that garlic you speak of.
I've moved on to crickets now - better food and inspirationals. Tried for a bear, but got owned [think because I did not have Big Game Hunting wtf lame!]
