Nice idea.

They have to build their claim ~10 tiles away? THAT'LL SURE STOP ANYONE

depends on the landscape :p the roa-boston has 3 decent sized rivers going north of it, the current farm wall claim is exactly on the boarder of the town claim, preventing anyone from crossing the tip of the north east river as the claim covers it (you have to go backwards halfway towards boston to cross it). if they had to be X tiles away it would allow anyone to walk around the tip of that river lol.

much like havan had it that you could not place a claim within 2-4 tiles of another claim. then all they have to do is admin edit the landscape to be shallow so noobs can leave boston without having to use crime should they fubar and lose the free portal

right now do to the deep rivers and the fact to swim across the shallower deep rivers you need around 10P to avoid drowning, forcing the farm wall more north how ever many tiles the devs wish to impose may help the newbs. beats not doing anything, right now the only people who are really screwed by the wall are the 5/5/5/5 newbs as they dont have/cant swim the rivers to maybe get out and dont really have the BB to crime across, if they are busy studying something at the same time

If that would be true you wouldn't say it is too much effort in so many posts in this thread!
If it wouldn't be accurate method you wouldn't bother so much, just like with animals attacks on capital town claims those who abused that hard said it was ok and that it is working as should be. Guess it didn't.

It's mentality like that that you won't ever catch up to dallane's posts.

Question: How does it do them good to track scents on their claim of trespassers if there's over a few dozen trespassers a day? You think people will take the time to track down where the scent for every last one of those 3 dozen people leads just to find a potential haven of loot?

Once you have everything there is nothing to do other then farm and eat. You have to fill your time with stuff like this to enjoy the game.

I've noticed that there is a gap on the far east coast. This gives me a hint to what character is behind this border claim. There is a person who I have named Border Killer that usually hides behind the tree on the far east side. I think this is an attempt to get people to use the gap and to surprise attack them there. Sadly, people still get knocked out along the border.

I remember when I started to play Salem it took me 2h to find first inspirational. And since I had no idea what to do a claim like this would definitly make me not play the game at all. Devs should consider doing something about it for the games sake.

I would just like to say, If this is in reality a way of mitigating boredom, I find this project to be quite self defeating. I think we have all agreed that this type of tactic really only affects those with 5/5/5/5 humours, and complete newbs. These are the players you want to encourage to play the game. The more players, the more factions, the more wars, the more fun. Why would you want to spend so much effort on a project that does nothing but ensures that new players become totally frustrated and quit??

despite mm's claims that desfenses are not broken and they do have some good arguments in their favor. i think had the dev's made "raiding" broken initially ie made claims much too hard to penetrate. We'd have less issues until it all gets completed and balanced. Having said that, because this game has the potential to attract a lot of crafting players i think factions will soon realize that a factions ability to retain and provide shelter for these types of players will be the biggest advantage, as i think there will be a great oppertunity for carebarish players to contribute in a meaningfull way by keeping care of the farm sort of speak for those players wanting to attack and defend.

Hopefully there will be enough diversity in faction leadership to accomodate different play styles. I do think however that the biggest sign of unbalance is a measurment of how big and dominate factions become.

Last night I noticed a couple of skeletons on one of the fields (between the first creek by the coast and the second) along with three KO guys on the beach portion.
