Thanks for the information, Rele!
I really appreciate it! :-)

Now, is there anything at alle that can be "done wrong" or can be done better to influence what you get?
Besides from forgetting to keep the heat up, so something like heating it for too long, or letting it lay around cooling for too long... ?!

[edit:] How will this effect lard and leather prices? Are there any other implications to the new mechanic that should be mentioned?

I actually told Pistolshrimp in much detail how to make it for the wiki way before it was even posted here don't judge a book by it's cover, just because i'm an ass on forums half the time doesn't mean i'm not nice the other half on pms or in game.

I'm sorry that you've found yourself taking offence to my post and I assure you wholeheartedly there's no reason to get butthurt or to even take it in a demeaning way so allow me to further explain my analysis for this:

You run a shop that has (most likely) been making a killing off this new mining patch. From a Business point of view it's like this; Rubberduck has come out with this amazing new sandwhich! (Blister Steel). For the low price of 25 silver you can find yourself with a single entree, side, and a medium sized fountain drink. Or; Welcome to Rubberducks Quacky Emporium, home of the finest rubbers! Please take this free brochure on how YOU can make your own rubber ducky for FREE!

If the supply goes up, your business will go down (Prices will drop, buyer will become fewer, you lose money)
If the supply doesn't go up, your business will go up (Less supply so only so much available so you get more peoples money and can charge more).

That's like saying "If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it's probably a duck... Until it gets to water, Then its a penguin."

But hey, I'm certainly not going to complain if you give us a detailed guide (when its most likely really simple) more power to you and I appreciate it. I'll note next time that when I'm talking with you/Referencing you, that not having an opinion to a question will save me an explanation post for you, I will opt into not having an opinion :)

uh-oh...
I assume both coffins came from the same cementation furnace?

Can you provide some additional info:
How much Sparks&Embers you had on character that lit the furnace?
How long did coffins stay in the furnace after been fired?
How long did coffins stay on the ground after becoming "harvestable"?

Same furnace & + 150 S&E

Not sure how long they stayed on the ground (+/- 1 day) & in the furnace (+/- 1 day after 100%) since I have lazy townmates & none bothered checking them.

So does this mean they have to be taken care of as soon as possible (take out of the furnance in time, collect bars in time)?
Or does this mean you should wait longer?

I have no idea.

both coffins had 4% difference, and the one that stayed in the cementation furnace the longest, did have the dross, so it could be.

I could just have had bad luck though.

From what I did gather myself:
They burn for 7,5 day (might be a bit off due to server crashes and downtime). After 100% you can take them out and put on ground. Now the wierd part is one took exactly 24h to cool while 2nd 2-3 h more. But overall it takes 8,5 days to make steel.
