I just had a run-in with a bear, and from my experience I offer a crude version of how to kill a bear: Run up to it and keep stabbing it until it's dead.

You want to end the combat as quickly as possible, because with the BB drain, time is on the Bear's side. Also, as dallane said, since the bear moves slowly, you can stab them fairly easily.

I didn't fight my bear very well, and ended the combat at 6 Blood and 10 BB (out of 50). I made the mistake of running away after it took did 27 damage in one attack. Annoyingly, the Black-Bile drain continued after the death of the bear, and I got KO'd while butchering it.

Think of the fear as a BB bleed effect that should last so long no matter what. If you're low on BB, then you will KO.

So it's like snake poison except that it does have an end-time. A bear roars at you and you get injected with a fear poison.

So we have effects that drain Phlegm and Black bile in a way that "bleeds" them out of you, but blood does NOT bleed. Got it.
