I don't know how well it would go down but i would love some ability to surprise raiders, make them really fear raiding me. I mean things like man-traps, poisoned food, guard turkeys etc rather than the very passive and predictable defenses we have now.

And I never thought we were arguing about this. Just about whether what I referred to as a bug was one of those wrinkles to be ironed out or was not a wrinkle at all (i.e., "working as intended").

I think until the system is re-worked they could at the very least add a bonus to wall damage from claim owners, or add a tool only the owner can access via the claim stone which lets you quickly destroy walls.

My claim is a mess right now as I have naturally expanded it a few times, each time adding walls, removing those walls so i can redesign them is going to require an excessive and unreasonable amount of time to do.

Yes, and adding the next generation wall inside the current walls will require redesigning any claim that didn't leave room for them the first time if we can't easily tear down our own fences and walls.

Why not just add more and more walls on the outside? Walls are easy to bash, even the new ones which have a soak of 50...

Soak of 50 phlegm doesn't mean a whole lot considering the effects of purity. What matters a lot more is how much HP those suckers have. More HP, and less worry about soak is pretty important to get away from Haven shell style defense.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

I assume you want the walls that take the most time to break to be the ones being attacked when the braziers have woken up.

Or you could, you know, have braziers firing at every wall that would be attacked.
