Can anyone verify this? The Wiki seems to say differently.

reeper_aut wrote:you get caterpillers and slugs from pots (vegetables like tomato, carrot, beets) now with same purity as the plants of the harvest

Is this a "sideproduct" of gardening? Do they destroy the plant in the process?

reeper_aut wrote:purity on pots and fields only rises if the result has higher purity than field/pot had before! while the result can be even higher the rise is MAX 1 on fields, 2 on pots. if the result is lower than the purity of field/pot there is no rise fields have rng, still the higher the seeds the better the chance to get a result over the fields purity. if seeds are a few % over fields purity (e.g. from potted pumpkins or bought) you will have a guaranteed rise on the field

Yeah, the sole image can not tell everything. I tried to include the Max 1 or Max 2 in the self referencing dependencies for the pot and the field.

reeper_aut wrote:metal purity isn't just about lvl but also distance to ladder. mine lvl only limits the max purity
m&m, mining set influence the probability for higher purity boulders (not 100% confirmed)

added this.

I can verify it. The crowberry bush that I planted (and mentioned in one of my earlier replies) was planted without forestry nor s&o. Whether or not this was intended isn't known to me, but it is possible.

yeah, just potted more hucklberries and crowberries, probably a bug. posted it in mach patch bugs.
but it's only the new ones! blackberry and cranberry can't be potted without!

@bugs, as the patch notes tell, the bug consumes the plant, so they are kind of a side product.

sure, you can't put everything in one picture. i thought it would be important to point out that the yields purity has to be higher to get the purity up.
otherwise it might not be clear why field/pot didn't rise in purity.

Btw. is there any purity associated with the butterflies that applies to the orchards?

I think butterfly purity works like bees, except slower but with a wider area. So their purity might influence the fruit bearing trees around them. Need confirmation on this though.

net purity affects butterfly purity. cotton/milkweed and wood purity affects the net purity.

alternatively, feed a caterpillar a purity item and some honeysuckle then wait for it to become a cocoon and hatch into a butterfly with the caterpilar's purity. (also need confirmation on this)

EDIT: wrong info, sorry :D

You can get pure hay from growing corn (dropping husk on haystack).

I just try a few things :

jdmerc wrote:net purity affects butterfly purity. cotton/milkweed and wood purity affects the net purity.

No : Butterfly net has no purity. Even hen using some purity cotton and wood the catched butterfly are at 0%.

jdmerc wrote:alternatively, feed a caterpillar a purity item and some honeysuckle then wait for it to become a cocoon and hatch into a butterfly with the caterpilar's purity. (also need confirmation on this)

No again : when you feed a plant to the caterpillar it takes the purity of the plant. To get a cocoon the last plant you'll feed him is the honeysuckle : which is at 0% (not possible to put into a garden pot).
The cocoon is not displaying any purity at all.

I have no idea how to get purity butterfly , i have no idea how fruit trees can get purity through butterfly.

From JC:

Orchards will only blossom during the Everbloom Season. Blossoming trees will only fruit if they have been pollinated by either Bees or Butterflies.
A full Bee Skep is a better pollinator than a full Butterfly House while a Butterfly House has a longer range.
Fruit obtained from an Orchard tree can be eaten raw and belongs to the Fruit foodgroup.
The Purity of a Fruit Tree slowly moves towards the purity of the Bee Skep that pollinates it.
