Character robbed while logged out

there should be an option to turn on homestead pointer that will lead you home. as long as you still have a hs

When servers come back up they force all characters without homesteads online. I destroyed a friends homestead a very long time ago and a couple months after he showed up forced online because no homestead.

What ever Frotted said is wrong... Destroying a leanto results in a character being online permanently and storing anything on them is not a good idea. Even if you can force them offline they will still eventually end up online.

Yeah, I thought so... From Fidgety complaining about his guy losing all his **** after a crash it sounded like that was the case - viewtopic.php?f=25&t=58&start=2110#p249772

It seems like eminent domaining a homestead may cause the homesteaded character to remain offline without losing their stuff... I'm pretty certain it does but I haven't gotten around to double checking for sure yet. Sounds like if the server crashed all the characters that were stashed this way would come back online though... So that would be an awfully risky way to store things since they would, best case scenario, start gaining madness fast next time there's even a brief server down.

Have you verified this? I got ED'd on popham and did not lose my items and did not have a homestead when I next logged on and had to quickly build a leanto (I was lucky and happened to be away from base when it happened). But it wasn't planned/intentional so I'm hesitant to argue with you if you've verified or seen it happen as I suppose it's possible I overlooked something... Or perhaps it's only true on popham/expeditions.

While you are logged on your items will not drop but logged off I am sure I remember doing it and seeing all the items drop to the ground. I could remember incorrectly but I am 90% certain eminent domaining a homesteaded pclaim while the player is logged off results in the player losing all items.

Ok, you're probably right. Maybe somehow I happened to be online briefly while they ED'd or something like that. I'll test it conclusively at some point and report back if I find otherwise.
