Late follow-up, can you get hooves without a butcher's knife? I've been filling compost bins with deer lately, so I don't waste my knife, but I haven't been getting any hooves, probably in 8 or 9 deer. I do have V&B, and I used to get them often. Should I use a low purity knife to get these drops?

Yes, you can get hooves without a knife... I don't bother with one usually and I definitely get them, and I don't even have v+b yet.

Im full with all these skills last time butcher 6 deers and got 5 hoofs
the deers give good hoofs as nikixos tell you kill more get more

and beavers some time got alot lards some time I butcher 4-5 and got nothing beaver give mostly 1 lard the tail of beaver give 3 lards

You don't need a knife and I used to get them before V&B, I think you're just having an unlucky streak.

Nope, you do not rummage a deer. I got 3 hoof from a single deer once or twice. And I believe you can get up to 4. But also sometimes I get 2 hoofs from 15 deer so its random. But still if you wanna get a bigger chance at getting the hoofs you should learn V&B.

I was once lucky enough to get 4 hooves from a single deer, but then the Gelatin Gods cursed me and it was about 10 deer until I got another, single hoof. Totally worth it, 10/10 would 4 hoof again.
