This is the same spot from this post. When I stumbled upon that vein I was actually making some preparations for cave in (wanted to destroy some old and poorly placed supports). Then I've got to lvl2 while I was getting rid of collapsed tiles. Could call that luck+intentional cave in I guess.

Can't say much about boomsticks, you light them with a torch, drop it and blow things, but I only tried that once.

So it appeared when destroyed collapsed tiles.....interesting

And it looks like larger than 3x3...Did it appear after you cleared all the tiles around?

So everyone can get access to lvl2 right next to their ladder just by collapsing and remining the same area.

The entrance "cleaned" collapsed tiles around itself, when it appeared.
