Pretty sure people abuse the new "no lean to" mechanic for an alt to stay logged in at their town, thus horses kept in a pin don't despawn, since said alt can not log out thanks to JC. Win win :)

not new to this patch: previously you'd just spawn an alt to your claim, saddle it on the horse and strip its permissions forcing it to stay logged in.

JC just made it easier to abuse when he made the lean to mandatory tho.

I thought the area despawns even if your char is in-game when you log out. It should if it doesn't.

small question on this: how long till a tile deloads? example: moving a char on a horse for an hour then deciding to setup a Leanto, leaving the horse, going to boston and back to the horse.

Tiles deload when the server needs them to. Unfortunately for you, that means it can last 5 minutes, or 48 hours, or any other amount of time before it deloads. There's no way to predict.
