4. & 5. are incorrect.

8. Do not believe everything people (especially tribe-haters) write in the forums.

6. Learn how to use the map application- it will make a huge difference in your success. https://code.google.com/p/salem-map-tool/wiki/Howto (you will need Ender or latikai client to use this)

Thanks a bunch Frakked. That helps.

5. I used the wilderness guide to find a place before I knew much about the game. I wandered a bit farther west to find a good place, based on what I understood to be a good location at the time and thought I found the perfect place to settle. A few days back, I decided to walk there from Boston to see how far away I was and it took over three hours. Just yesterday I realized that great limestone node I settled next to was just regular rock, and there is no limestone nearby, so it looks like I will be wandering farther.

6. Thanks, I haven't read about that app yet and could use to help regarding mapping. I will check it out right away.

Regards,

Ez

don't bother settling near a lime deposit. You'll want to switch to lime alts before long anyway.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

This is true of any purity resource.

Honestly- vs longevity in the game... settling far from any purity resource is best. You'll have fewer concerns with folks wanting to take over you claim/town... if there's nothing special about where it's located.

Sure it's nice not to have an alt elsewhere feeding you ore or lime 24+ at a time in Boston... but ultimately that what everyone does.

Hope you can run 2 accounts at the same time. That's key.

If you can't... seriously,. literally... quit and move on. You will always be at a disadvantage...and eventually exploited and screwed over.

IF you can... learn how to use and maximize it. Two accounts at once will be your main... most of time.

Thank you Jimmy, for your kind assistance. As I pointed out in my OP, that guide is almost two years old and much has changed with the game in that period of time.
