thanks, and next weird question: are there other pieces of equipment that can only be equipped in a certain hand?(ie: make shift fishing rod being right handed only) I thought for a while it was 2 handed til I noticed it only took 1 box, but was unable to equip it while holding my axe...

Only one that's one handed and needs a certain hand is the sword.

How so?
I'm able to equip it in either hand and still attack with it.

I've received error messages that say "that must be equipped to your right hand to use" in the past. They might have changed it.

Maybe. The fishing rod was doing this for a while, too.

I get no message, but I can't equip fishing rod in left hand. that was the reason I asked the question.

does that mean this is just a glitch/bug and may be changed allowing all equipment to equip to either hand, or could it possibly be a game feature thats just not working right?

Sword is "either" hand at the moment... so you can end up killing critters with a thrust from a fishing pole...

since yellow bile doesn't recover in a fight, if you run out of yellow bile in a fight and theres no way to get away from any creature you're fighting except snakes(animals will chase you forever but you can ditch a snake running over a river) does that mean you might as well just stand there and wait to be ko'ed? or am I missing something?

march hares, beavers and deer can't cross deep water... so you can evade by going over a "deep" river section. Don't think crickets can either but I've not had to try it with them...
