If someone has murder and either knocks you out or finds you knocked out, yes they can kill you. Murder isn't cheap to get though, so not everyone will have it.

so i can be as safe as i want it to be. but only can be knocked out by people who have murder and then killed( or posion from snakes as i figured out and i lost all plegm and was trying to find the food for reviving and got a mushroom ) so now i dont have to restart

If you want to restart, just abandon that character and start a new one.

You can be knocked out by a lot of things and most week old player have the skill (Rights Of A Englishmen) to KO you. They can not kill you until also getting the skill (The Story Of Cain And Abel) witch is the only way you can be killed but you should still try not to get KO'ed you lose two proficiencies every time it happens.

I got knocked out twice by snakes the first day I played. Now I have a strong fear of snakes I haven't been knocked out since though. The enders client helped with that.

I'm pretty sure your proficiencies never drop below five. Since I hadn't leveled any of them up, I didn't lose anything there, just the items I was carrying at the time. Sucks because I'd found a seashell and hadn't wanted to use it for my first skill since it was overpowered, lol. Now it doesn't fill any of my proficiency bars

Anyway, just stick with your character.

If you are not going to play the game because you can't make the same name as another one of your characters then Salem is DEFINITELY not the game for you.
