I don't know how he'd be "getting 100% worm efficiency" with 1 worm.

Who said they were getting 100% efficiency from 1 worm? Are you perhaps confusing a reference to a 100% pure worm? Please quote.

DemonEyes wrote:OR, is it possible you only have 1 100% worm in that bin?
The addition to the element from the worm is defined by the difference between the boards and the worms and multiplied by efficiency.. so if you only have 1 worm (what 15% efficient) your addition to the humus would be 15% of whatever the weighting is.. fill your effieciency with unpure worms and you get the averaged value taken for the addition. i.e. 5 worms 1 at 100, Av = 40 then the addition would be weighted from that 15 rather than 11 (15% of 75)

Nope... try again... Who said he was getting 100% efficiency from 1 worm? Quotes please...

HE said he was getting 100% efficiency.... the guy after him asked 'is it possible you only have 1 100% worm?'

..granted, he could have meant 1 100% worm and a bunch of ***** ones... but if he's getting 100% efficiency then obviously he has more than 1 100% worm.

Well, I had been using 50% worms in a bin made from 9% boards, and the resulting humus was 7%.. So I wondered if possibly, worms closer to the 9% might actually result in better humus. I fed some new worms up to 10% (I always use 6 pythons and 1 normal for 100% efficiency).. and unfortunately.. the humus was LOWER in purity... I then fed them up to 15% and the Humus was a little better than the humus from the 10% worms..

So.. it would seem that, while the effect of the worms upon the humus likely diminishes as the purity difference between the bin and the worms increases.. it is still better to just use the highest purity worms you have..

Sound like we came to similar conclusions.
