This is my best discovery, and I have spent hours and hours exploring and losing a couple of buckets in the process ;)

Besides this high sulphur water I havent found water with other alchemies that come close - maybe mid to upper 30s.

Also I dont check much foraged items as they are kind of a hassle but I think the highest purity I found in them is like 5%.

Good find, I would definitely say that's like once in a server sort of find as I've spent many hours searching as well. You could sell it to the few people actually trying out the new system instead of complaining on forums :P.

All you need to do to test the effect of kilns is to bake some purity clay into a brick and see if it's different.

Purity for clay seems to work like: Water = Milk of Lime = Clay

However, finding good quality Granite and Lime will also be essential for making a useful Gardening Pot, since Clay will only contribute 1/3 to the final composition.

The importance of Water makes another comeback when it's used for growing a potted Cutting, but is again only one ingredient and I have no data about what the different contributions are for potted plants.

Hey I wasn't complaining! ...much... was I? :)

Indeed, the new system is a shock to me but I'm trying to adapt and learn how it works

Droj wrote:Interesting. When I added 0% lime to a 6% bucket of water the result was 5% milk of lime. When you say you got 9% clay was that from a clay trough?

Have you tried making kiln with that clay and cooking a few bricks with 0% clay to see if it alters purity?

Yes:

Also looks like the inspirationals from baking the mishapped clay also get purity"

This game just got more interesting for me. I see a "water alt" in my near future :D At least until we get purity wells.

Great catch on the clay inspirationals! That'll defiantly help :D

I used 7% water (lead) with a 2% lime (merc) which gave me a 6% (lead) Milk of Lime. Which resulted in a 6% clay.

And then i used this Milk with a 2% granite (i think merc) and a 2% lime (merc) to get a 1% unbaked pot.

Not much else to contribute,i'll make some more pots when i find better granite and post my results. Would be cool if someone could figure out how much does each material affect the purity of the pot.

Thanks also to Hans,great work;)

Edit: 6% Milk of lime,2% lime and 3% granite still gives me a 1% unbaked pot.

Here are some of my results in crafting purity garden pots:

Code: Select all
Pot #1 - sulphur lime, granite - plain clay
         Salt   Merc   Sulf   Lead
Clay     25.00  25.00  25.00  25.00
Lime     17.74  20.86  32.90  28.50
Granite  20.20  24.05  32.25  23.51
-----------------------------------
Result   20.98  23.30  30.05  25.67 (0% Pure)

Pot #2 - sulphur water - plain lime, granite
         Salt   Merc   Sulf   Lead
Clay     18.14  17.44  48.69  15.74
Lime     25.00  25.00  25.00  25.00
Granite  25.00  25.00  25.00  25.00
-----------------------------------
Result   22.72  22.48  32.89  21.92 (1% Pure)

Pot #3 - sulphur everything
         Salt   Merc   Sulf   Lead
Clay     18.14  17.44  48.69  15.74
Lime     18.13  30.93  34.54  16.40
Granite  24.69  20.70  39.56  15.06
-----------------------------------
Result   20.32  23.03  40.93  15.73 (4% Pure)

So it's clear it's a simple 33% contirbution by each of the 3 ingredients like the traditional formula used in game. It is also clear that the purity of kiln also does not alter the result

It's safe to assume that elemental purity of water and foragables won't exceed 10%. The devs have repeatedly stated that they don't want the hnh node system (which is why they were axed in this game last world). Really, it comes down to whether you want 4% pure or trade for a slight boost to 10%. Not that game breaking, in my opinion.

I didn't mean you were complaining, I meant those not actually trying things out. Sorry it was worded wrong.

I am impressed by the data you're sharing. Keep it up :D.

Now we're going to need to do some research on the effect of Water Purity on potted plants!

This will be...challenging.

Before the purity change, I did a bit of testing and concluded that Humus counted for 1/6th of the final purity. This is probably still the case, but it wouldn't hurt to check.

Isolating the variables will help in determining relative contributions.
25.00 Gardening Pots we all have in stock.
25.00 Humus can be obtained from Turkey Droppings or Woodchips or old foraging stockpiles.
25.00 Water can be obtained from Wells (for now) and I have a barrel full of the stuff.
25.00 Plants will be a little bit harder to get your hands on, but I think I have a few remaining (although I just potted my last null-purity mushrooms in mixed humus and unknown water. :( )
Edit: Alexivo pointed out that Blackberry Bushes will yield 25.00 element berries which can be used for planting.
