I've used my slingshot quite a lot in the last day. Range affects accuracy, as does elevation difference. Just outside the current flee range seems to work pretty consistently. Triple that and it gets pretty tough to hit anything. If you watch the trajectory and adjust, however, you can usually nail them with 3 or so tries.

I like the pull from about 1.5 times flee range. Gives me time to line up an uppercut as they charge in.

I notice that at 45 YB, a slingshot hit followed by an Uppercut will kill a cricket, whereas an uppercut alone (before update) was not even close to a kill.

This suggests that a hit from the Slingshot gives the target the "Reeling" combat de-buff.

Another observation: Accuracy is much better if you are 10-15 or closer to a N-S aim. Pretty much 100% hit even with elevation differences as long as you don't get to extreme range. On the other hand, E-W requires windage. I now position for a N-S shot.

Suspect it's a bug in how the code calculates aim.

It might also have to do with what the slope of your land is, since people have said that height-differences throw off your aim.

You didn't see the agriculture page six(ish) months ago. Sometimes you get information overload before you get it pared down to useful information. Be a friend and help tighten it up instead of complaining.

I have determined a cause of missing your target when you seemingly aimed right:
The slingshot targets the ground, not the animal

When shooting to the left or right, if you click on the body of the animal, the shot will go wide, since what got shot at was the ground to the side of the animal. If you aim instead at the animal's feet, you will be able to get 90%+ accuracy.

Testing out Vonch's East/West missing is what clued me in to this. I found that if you rotated the camera 90 degrees, the missing would happen in the North/South directions. In both cases it was Left/Right from the perspective of the camera.

So yeah, aim for the feet.

Prolly not. If you can't move over it then you can't shoot over it.

Hmm...good to know. Will have to test that.

I couldn't shoot through a thorn bush, that I can tell you. I doubt you can shoot through anything that will cause a 'collision' with a bounding box... hence no shooting 'over' walls either.

I have tested and confirmed this.

Also, extreme height differences can also lead to missing. Crickets have a surprisingly large hitbox, but not large enough to catch shots coming from atop a cliff.

Not having much luck with accuracy on ranged combat.

I have the Shoot action as a hotkey (Number 5 key). When I press the button, I immediately fire. I dont get a mouse cursor to aim, it just fires. And it seemed to fire in the direction where my character was facing so I tried facing my targets before clicking but sometimes the shot still goes way off, even sometimes I spin 180 and shoot behind me. I dont get it :(
