Yeah, for being so up to date on the political state of Roanoke, OP really doesn't seem to realize that the best situation you can find yourself in as a hermit is to never see anyone near your homestead. Ever.

Salem defines the concept of Stranger Danger.

If you meet someone in the wilderness a good rule is to turn on "run" and run at them at full speed. This will in many cases make them log off.

Edit: If they dont log off, you must log off immediately.

Yes, but population is lower than Roanoke or Jamestown.

Considering it has a couple of large active factions, the number of players not in those factions is very low. I would actually fully reccommend people settling on plymouth. You can find a plethora of abandoned settlements and the price of goods is fairly cheap too.

It seems like the wilderness guide has a predispostion for teleporting people close to my area, ive counted 15 different peoples claims within 30-45minutes of me.

A little trivia: within last 24 hours almost 100 accounts was created.
Within last week over 800 was created.

I wonder how many of those landed on Plymouth and how many is still playing

I've added a lot of new players, and haven't seen many of them online more than once.

The beginning stages must be a harrowing experience. That and it seems this is a niche game, I can't talk any of my rl friends into even giving it a go...

Well, to get into this game you have to like building and crafting.
My guess is that most PvP oriented players drop out of the game when they find out they have to forage for stuff, craft food and build their place before they can start doing some PvP.
On the other hand most crafting-oriented players drop out of the game once they find their place raided and destroyed.

It's a shame really, I'd happily farm all day for warriors who could keep me safe. The option is not provided as game mechanics stand currently.

Both player types lose out.
