Does the claim need to be a certain size? When I look at my claimstone it says 962m2, 269/427, cost 0
Am I missing something?

Thanks

The cost 0 represents the cost of your currently planned claim expansion, which I assume you haven't activated.

Also, what you are seeing is that the stone has 269 silver for upkeep and can hold a total of 427.

Every currently active claim in the world was given a month of upkeep for free, from what I've seen.

I don't see the system really having any effect on people who leave more than two months but intend to come back. For anybody who played Haven, or has been in Salem for a while, you know how likely it is that all of your stuff will be happily waiting for you after a two month break? Even if the claim didn't disappear, it's likely neighbors or wanderers would break in and destroy or steal things. Often times just because they can. What better target for a new player to test out his larceny and waste skills than a claim with nobody around to track them?

What will happen to a claim when the owner has left but has given you the rights to live and use the claim? I have a lean to inside the walls so not sure how to keep this claim when I have put so much time into it.

You can always knock it down the second it expires and put up your own claim on the same land.
