Your problem perhaps, but the rest of us are under the impression that snakes should never kill, only KO. We want to know what circumstances lead to actual death.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

yes i,d rather have not died and lost skills, just meant i can play the game now...2 unrelated probs at the time i think. Was just foraging around my homestead when a snake aggroed me, pretty sure it poisoned me and i was running into the shallow water as snakes don,t follow there. Was low on phlegm but had a little bit left, as i entered the water i just died, i assumed i got struck by snake. However instead of falling to floor with stars around my head, i just died and lost character. Didn,t see anyone else around though was concentrating on running away from snake so could have missed them. Unless you can commit crimes without knowing i,m sure that wasn,t an issue.

When you were running from snake - were you using "run" movement type? The one that let's you move faster than normal?

That does sound really weird. Snakes are physically unable to kill (currently, at least ^^), so whatever killed you, it must have been something else. I'm curious to know what, though, because I cannot, at least, think of anything other than players that deal lethal damage right now.

perhaps someone killed me just as snake struck as well....don,t suppose theres any way of finding out.....if not i,ve lost my character to a bug which would be really annoying :(

Does that mean the darkness drowning event was a bug as well?

Is it possible that -phlegm ticks from poison and from running both happened at almost exactly the same time, with 1 being enough to KO character, and there being no check between them whether character is KOed? Leading the second tick to deal phlegm damage to a character with 0 phlegm effectively killing him?

An example:
Character has 0.1 phlegm left. Next running tick will drain 0.1 phlegm, next poison tick will drain 0.5 phlegm. The time for ticks comes, server makes validation and determines that running may drain 0.1 phlegm and poison may drain 0.1 phlegm (because that's how much is left). THEN Ticks come, both deal 0.1 phlegm damage and kill character.

It is not. Damage is explicitly specified to be lethal or not, and none of those are.
