You can see this by having something outside of a house that would despawn if the map tile is unloaded, like a live animal.
Go inside the house, then go out again, it will still be there.

No. All things that bloom or can be picked are based on a formula of people loading the screen that they are planted in. What Tmeow meant is that if you have 10 players in a town and they are all continually going into and out of caves, houses, the area then the screen/server will be continually reloading the planted item. The more times they load, the better chance they bloom or spawn fruit.
It's not a matter of having an alt next to it continually. It's a matter of putting the fruit trees in a well used area so they keep getting loaded

TotalyMeow wrote:No, he had it right. I don't think anything is based off the frequency of tiles being loaded fresh, but the ambiguity of the word 'loaded' probably makes this confusing. I do recommend playing with others as more fun than planting an empty alt in your orchard and running your computer all day.

Meh, I thought we changed that to make the tile unload with the guy still in it. Maybe it was just a to do. Enjoy while you can!

I get the need to make it thematically appropriate as being a thing towns want and not the one man tree-farmer, i really do. But it would be a shame if it becomes a race as to who can jump through more hoops to keep up with the people that are good at workarounds. I'm sure that if you do want to fix it JC can come up with a suitably un-exploitable solution, but just removing the stuck-on-claim alts would be more bad than good as that gives the lead to people with a spare computer they can run 4 clients on 24/7.
