Look, I already explained that I have no problem with resettling or not being able to find these resources right away. And, it makes no sense to call me "self entitled" when I'm trying to avoid taking someone else's stuff.

It seems half the people responding didn't even read my original post before arguing (not even really presenting an argument, instead just dissing), like the person telling me to make a clay trough. I already know about the clay trough, but it requires lime, and my question was more "why should I go looking for lime when my 'neighbor' already has a clay trough full of milk of lime?"

Personally, I still think it's mainly a crafting/building game regardless of how it is advertised. As a hardcore PvP game, and I've played plenty, this falls flat in my opinion. I haven't seen a single character outside of town, so as of what I've seen so far, it's just about stealing or destroying others' work.

Thanks to the folks who actually tried to help or give an explanation of this. Don't get so defensive just because I have one single criticism as a noob. And, just because I have questions about the game doesn't mean I'm feeling entitled. I didn't come in here saying "give me the clay now!" or whatever you guys seem to read into something I didn't actually say. Geez.

If you didn't make such cry baby, whiney and demanding post people would of actually tried to help you. My suggestion of a clay trough was me being serious since you didn't include that in your post. My telepathy skills are quite low please forgive me.

LOL. They let a person who can't read moderate these forums. OK, you missed it the first time, whatever, but the second time? ROFL.

I wasn't demanding anything. By your logic, you're the one who's actually crying because I called you out for not reading. :D

Salem: the existentialist MMO. Seriously though Camus, heres how it works, if you dont have a p-claim, you are the "neighbor" otherwise, just use the guys milk of lime, he dosnt care about it or he would have a claim over it, thats how Salem works. There are no moral questions or obligations here, anything off claim is fair game, but when he does put a claim up, then youll need to go find your own lime

Haha, maybe you're right, and I am over-thinking this. Thanks for your reply; I get what you're saying.

It just feels weird doing this without telling/asking the person first. I think there's more than one player at that site because there's more than one bed. I'm guessing you can allow specific players to use your claim, so that isn't the reason this person doesn't have a claim at all (in order to let their friends play together).

At the moment, I wouldn't mind too much if someone took all my stuff because I just started a few days ago and don't really have anything worthwhile to take/steal. Thinking ahead, I was wondering if I want to invest into things people can steal, or if there's going to be retaliation if I keep raiding their stuff. Still don't like this FFA PvP aspect of the game, especially since it's so sneaky--it would be better to work together with people in an area and beef with people somewhere else, imo; but it is what it is, I suppose.

once you have a claim you can give people permission to use it like it was their own. and nobody will know who took/used their stuff unless you do so on their claim, which involves getting crime skills, manually turning on the crime ability, then doing it. for now though yeah your not going to "need" a claimstone if your just hoarding reeds and tinder drills, but pretty soon you'll have clothes, tools, stuff you wont want taken, but by that point you can afford a stone pretty easy, 150s. your neighbor was asking for trouble by not having a claim although obviously far enough along to be able to afford one. So ***** him, use his stuff and if he complains, tell him it was a tough love lesson :P

oh and welcome to Salem, enjoy your stay :)

If you're worried about neighbors, do what I did and move into the middle of nowhere in the fringes of the world.

You felt self entitled enough that you helped yourself to your neighbours belongings though didn't you, when the game didn't serve it to you on a plate.
I also don't think it's a good idea commenting on other peoples writing abilities, when your thread starts with a post claiming you have walked in each direction for several hours looking for something that can be found by the most simple minded of gamers in 15 minutes travelling in 1 direction.

Why do I read this and feel something is off? Fishing for an invitation?
Either this guy gets justice served Salem style within a month, or someone is going to be mad as victor.
