i think that they decay but verry slow

buildings were all ok but fence was all pink or red , so i think its better to pay 4 your claim

They were probably broken in to. An unpaid pclaim does not decay. However you can find many cases where a person has broken into a base destroyed the claim then put their own claim or someone else decided to live in the ruins. There was a very long time ago where an unpaid pclaim but that has not been the case for a very long time.

I think this is the first thing I dislike about Salem. Anyone wanting to take a break from Salem should pay the upkeep for 60 days and return at a later point to top it up or put in a few hours to get the silver and then top it up. That's the max you can pay upfront on a pclaim right? 60 days?
Why pander to players who leave the game for such periods? Doesn't seem a good system to me in my opinion.
There are a few claims in my area that I know for a fact have had no activity on for over a month. 2 of the claims are expanded over lime pits that are fairly scarce in my area. So now I realize that these claims are probably long time inactive and just sitting on valuable resources that I could do with access to, but can't get at without committing crime. Makes no sense just to satisfy a possible return of someone 6 months down the line.

This is the same argument some make to free up stalls when they do not truly know what may or may transpire on a stall and assume it is not selling anything. Just because something looks abandoned does not mean that it is. I have seen bases that seemed old and abandoned that turned out to be active. Besides I kept my claim alive at my old base for a short time despite it being void of any resources. In addition people may move from a base but keep it active for another to use or with intention for an alt to use in the future. You never know what the person is planning when they put the claim down. The system is fine how it is now.

I believe you can attack unpaid claims without doing a crime on Popham.

While I can understand what you are trying to get at here, "pandering" does not apply to all who leave the game for a while. Some of us have jobs that take us out of the country, live in other places where internet is not great all the time, have families, finals, etc.

Thanks dear Salemites for your kind answers. The drain when you waste is not 40 though, I'ld guess it's 30 or 25.

And if you need resources from a base that is some months without activity you only need to create an alt and take it. He will survive if you do everything correctly.
