Haha yeah I hadn't encountered the hookah prior to dock club either but after standing there watching like 50 people toke the hookah I was a pro afterwards

One of the more amusing saleming-with-others things lately is that my gf loves foraging (she calls it shopping "don't disturb me i'm shopping") and sometimes has dreams where she's chasing tumbleweed endlessly. I imagine that in lebowski trip sequence context, of course.

On my client (number shown next to the humour faces) 9 is safe but X (10) is death. When hovering over your biles, madness is also shown 0-indexed. Hovering over your biles will show one less than the graphically shown number. There, 9 is death.

Yes I did wonder about that, the number next to the faces/masks is 1 higher than the madness level. I didn't know if I'm at 4 (madness tool tip) or 5 (next to faces)

Thanks for the speedy replies and good advice. The hookah den is not something I knew about although I did type "hookah" into the wiki search engine to see if it was some sort of pipe I couldn't make yet. I remember skipping the hookah event after dock club on Sunday. Oops, first rule of dock club... .The search returned zero results so either I misspelled or there isn't a page yet.
The game is so much better when you play with others and not alone. So much funny stuff happens I'm constantly laughing like crazy.
At my new area, there is a deserted base to the south. I checked all containers and one had itchy britches in it. Common sense told me to leave it alone but my friend wasn't blessed with such a intellectual gift on this occasion. Due to her laptop crashing frequently and not being able to figure out what to do, she scratched herself to death like 10 times and dropped 20 points. Hysterical to watch and she got a pretty annoyed after dropping everything 4 or 5 times. Her pizza was burning and she went afk - scratch scratch dead. Got a drink -scratch scratch dead. Computer froze -scratch scratch dead. She knew she had to resist the urge 4 times but after maybe 10 resists I had to tell her to unequip the thing (read the wiki).
I really do hope there is plenty more little surprises like that to be had.

Neither of us knew anything more about madness when it started than the tool tip from the crab on a stick. We stood around talking trying to figure out what was going on for a good amount of time. We searched the surrounding forest looking for crab on a stick and also she started us off on a paranoia trip that there was a witch messing with us. She came to this conclusion as she said I was poking the bear on my thread in my house of Burgess Murica thread. I tried to explain to her that Judaism isn't a real threat like say Darwoth is, but she disagreed.
After a while scratching our heads and chatting, she started exclaiming that I was glowing. No I'm not. You are you are. I don't see anything it's your madness probably. Your feather in the hat was glowing and now we are both glowing. I remembered that she was out mushroom picking for glut just before and remembered reading something about witches hat so told her she shouldn't have eaten them. There was 2 boiled in the pot. She was adament she never ate a witches hat mushroom so we concluded it must have been the fumes from the cooking pot and dispersed of it quickly.
Is that possible? fumes from the pot?

I appreciate your attempt to find us succor regarding our stead thither. But to employ tales of a ladies' itchy britches, mushroom malaise, Java vexations and snack strife...well, tis more than a gentle-pilgrim should have to BEAR!

Study every 5 minutes...and/or every time you think you haven't studied enough... keep doing it. It doesn't matter what- could even be something you don't need. IDK- I study wood chips non-stop now... easy to find... easy to get... any old log split...and I study it.

Point is.. I haven't gone gotten to Madness 1... unless I was distracted and was online at advent of blood moon... which gives 2 Insanity automatically since I came back... 10 weeks or so?

Learn to study non-stop. Wood chips are cheap study wise. Regardless of what it points too...it staves off insanity...period.

I figure I was like you once... super worried about wasting inspiration, but as you grow... its an after-thought. I don't think I've been under 1,000,000 inspiration since I made the complaint... originally.

Quit focusing on what you study.. and just keep doing it... non-stop.

Then, when you've food and breathing room... figure it out.

I've gotten to Madness 3... Teddy is by far the most reliable method of reducing madness. Just note whatever time you sleep with Teddy equiped in your hand... and wait 8 hours.. any less and you didn't do anything... any more...and you won't benefit from extended down time. That's what the referene to waking up meant... 8 hours of sleep with Teddy per madness level.

Short the time... lose no madness... wait 24 hours... still only lose 1 madness level...you have to RESET the attempt to keep losing madness.

Studying every 15 minutes is more than sufficient to combat passive gain. If you're not doing anything particularly maddening, you can just study several things and get a Profficiency point or two every two or three hours and you'll be fine. Don't let Frakked think you have to make an obsessive chore of it.

100x this. Please don't listen to frakked. Madness has been nerfed like crazy. Just study something every once and awhile like you normally would and you will be fine.

Losing madness isn't that bad either. Get tobacco and a teddy bear and you will be back to normal in no time. Get a affluence set together and you will be better faster.

I definitely have enjoyed it. Gives the game a bit more difficulty and completely broke up the routine I was slipping into. I am on level 6 madness now but have the teddy.
Kim, who posted above, is now having her frantic run around looking for items to sell to buy the materials for hers.

I wonder what tools of mine she will misplace today while my toon is sleeping? Had to fill 3 barrels of water today with a clay cooking pot because itchy britches lost my bucket. sigh.
