indeed, for the repairs.
Looks much better, yes! But take care to also allow room for some torchposts in there.

A tiny note of security: You may want to stagger your gates for top security. That way, it won't be (easily) possible for two attackers to attack the same gate simultaneously without beating down an extra cornerpost, making them lose a little more time with the exact same effort on your part. Yet, staggered gates can be a pain to walk through, especially if you have 5 of them.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

With each following layer of wall move the gate 1 tile sideways. So thatthe next gate can be reached from only 1 tile

1.) Dont use makeshift for defense, it lasts only 2 seconds and nukes itself door to door.

2.) To dodge the vulnerability of gates, also especially in a more 1-wall-type like honeycomb design, you can just lead the way over several pockets of one layer instead of building it straight through.

3.) Have spare resources, so when actively defending, and the intruder is breaching its way in, you can seal the path behind a gate with several layers of fresh brick which won't splash for 2 weeks (or was it 1 week? I always forget...), effectively making it un-passable for the attacker (and you!), as gates don't splash on normal wall segments.
Need something? Here is my Shop (Including some useful info for new/returning players at the bottom of the first post)

watching kandarim give base defense tips is pretty ridiculous in light of the whole arcadia thing.

no-one ever let me plan anything :( There was the tiniest debacle on roa and I was banned from defence planning ever since.
